Okay...I figure it'd be nice to have a thread to say exactly what folks can expect from adventures I run in VSE...
1. The PCs are part of the setting.
This means that they have a place...and it isn't necessarily as mastermind villians right from the start. You're exceptional, but you're lacking in credentials at this point.
Also, I'd like it if each character wrote a bio and posted on where your character's training came from. Wizards, clerics, and monks don't just teach themselves. The training is extensive and is deeply, deeply personal...so figures out of a characters past can (and will) show up if I have the right info about your characters.
2. The NPCs are part of the setting.
This means that the lackies are lackies...but some may have names and pasts. The masterminds have been at it for awhile. Generally they will be better connected than the PCs. The PCs may find themselves being used by an established NPC. That's life on the dark side.
3. The PCs will grow.
As you adventure and level, you'll get the contacts that some NPCs may have. You're reputations will grow gradually. Point is, I'll make sure you're not always the weak guy.
4. Sometimes shit happens.
Shit happens, even to PCs. However, if I'm really screwing you over, its probably a plot device...don't get to mad or frustrated...instead look at how to make the most of where you land, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find yourself better off then when you started off when all is said and done.
I'll post more as I think of it...later.
