I'm planning on exploring a lot of different themes in Starfall. Here are a few of them:
1. Stereotypes. The Kobolds are reptiles, slinking between the rocks, speaking with forked tongues as they cheat you of your gold for the trinkets they bring from across the Waste. The Elan are superioristic has-beens, seeking to embody glory long lost. These are things that many of the people of Starfall believe. How much is true? How much isn't? Does the Elan genetic purity, or the Kobold draconic blood, encourage them to embody these stereotypes, or are they simply the perception of outsiders?
2. Proper places in the world. The Humans and Elan live in the Green Zones. The Kobolds and Cyborgs live in the Waste. What of the Dromites, aliens with no proper place? What of those who do not seem to fit where their people are native to?
3. Can I do it? Should I do it? The presence of three sources of power in the world - magic, psionics, and technology - leads to questions of ethics. Those who possess any one of these hold great power, and are physically capable of acts with major consequences. Does having the ability to do something make it ethical? Does might make right?
