So yeah...the NWN2 team recently announced that they will -not- include mounts...
This was one of the major sell points with me, so I'm a bit irritated.
We want our horsies!

Eh, NWN2 isn't the only D&D-based game to not have horses.
In fact, had they not made that announcement, they'd have become the only D&D game I've seen to include mounts.
Silly them, losing a major point of uniqueness.

I'm expecting them to put it back in when the lynch mob of angry gamers comes for their programmers.

It seems like no RPg uses horses. ; Morrowind, though it's not D20, doesn't. I can't think of one that does. x.x I'm pretty limited like this, but still.

World of Warcraft offers mounts, but you can't use them in combat.
EverQuest II has combat mounts.

TES4:Oblivion has mounts, but you can't fight on them... but the only game that I know of that actually has mounts and it and does it well (you can fight on 'em!) is Mount & Blade. It's a friggin' addictive game made by a husband and wife (and there are tons of modders releasing mods for the game) where you're a heroish person that's living in a world where two nations are at war and the countryside's swarming with bandits and the like. You start out with crappy equipment, do some quests for the counts/kings of the cities/nations... get gold, level up, kill bandits and loot everything they have at the end of the battle, raise your own army and fight other enemy armies using simple orders for every type of soldier, fight in the arena, buy better equipment, besiege castles! The the battles in the game's 1st person or 3rd person, depends on which you like better 'course. *ahem* Anyways, a great game. Try out the trial and reach level 6, buy it for $10 or whatever it was... aaand have funfunfun! .... anyways, ramble I did do as always. I'm not really that bothered that horses aren't going to be in NWN2, but it was a huge plus.

In D&D, horses are actually a major part of the balance.
The Paladin class, especially, benefits from them, but at high levels the mounted charge with a lance is one of the few attacks the Fighter has that can even come close to the damage output of a sorcerer, wizard, or cleric.
Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors both have mounts... I can't believe I didn't think of those.

MmMm.... dynasty warriors...
Ah anyway, Maybe the reason they decided not to use mounts was lack of time to program them in? They don't want to be attacked by a bigger lynch mob for delaying their game.
~grumble~ over... and over.... and over.
Stupid Nintendo...-_-...

The thing is, NWN 1 is still thriving fairly well... and its not pay to play, so there aren't people denying themselves the goodness to wait and save for NWN2. They could take half a decade to finish it, and as long as it has everything they promise, I'd be happy.

Ah, yes, another game with mounted combat, commonly expected to become one of the games labelled as the best ever. I'd rather get the game the same day I pick up my Revolution and have it exceed the hype than get the game tomarrow and have it not meet the hype. This game is what Nintendo is using as a basis for their reputation going into the next generation of consoles.
